Back pain & Treatment -- it sucks.

Well, this sucks.

I just had my 1 month evaluation at physical therapy yesterday, and I have made _no_ improvement in regards to my back and neck problems. The only thing that's improved is the strength in my legs, which really haven't been a problem...

So now, my neurologist wants to start injections in combination with physical therapy, at least for the next month. I really don't want to go down that road, but it seems that this is the only road to follow. The physical therapist agreed with what the neurologist wanted to do in regards to my treatment.

And to top it off, if there's little to no improvement made by the end of next month, then they'll be forced to discharge me from physical therapy altogether.

If that happens, what should I expect for the next course of treatment? More injections? Giving up on everything and just deal with neck and back pain for the rest of my life and go to a doctor all the time for pain management?

any suggestions?

oh, and FWIW, I'm currently on Oxycodone (5mg) for pain, up to 4x a day, Flexeril (10mg) as a muscle relaxer, 3x a day, and Meloxicam (7.5mg) to reduce inflammation.

Winbig, don't know what your problem is but my Significant Other was diagnosed with fractured vertebrae (T7 & 8) about 9 years ago. After many, many doctors and treatments and pills, he has a morphine pump put in. Seems to work very well for him. He does still take muscle relaxers (Tizanidine) and every now and then he takes a 500 Vicodin if he does something that aggravates his back alot. Before the pump he was taking 10 mg Norcos, Somas, Methadone (for pain) and on and on. Never did get to the Oxycodone but it was next. I feel for you. Back pain sucks.

    Thanks

Nothing was broken after the car accident, but it did screw up some pre-existing stuff. Problem is, I had no back problems before the accident, and probably wouldn't have for years to come.

I have scoliosis, bone spurs and arthritis in my neck. I'm just hoping things get back to normal so I can get on with my life w/o pain

I had alot of back pain I guess from being pregnant so many times, I went to pain management, and the only thing they did was give me Methadone for pain, and epidural injections.

The injections didn't help at all, and I eventually quit going to get them. In turn the Dr. terminated me from his practice.

I have not been on anything for the pain now except Ibuprofen for the last couple of months.

I hope you get some relief soon. I know how bad it really hurts. Who knows, try the injections and they might work for you.
