My Mom could very well have been one those people your speaking of. She would ask the change lady for change for a dollar ( I would tell her the machine will take the dollar ) she didn't play the whole dollar she played .50 and was done.
I use to get a little embarrassed but she never said anything about the 100s of dollars I was losing so I made it a point not to call her cheap.
