How about no rep points given for the thanks but only added to the total number of thanks received at the top. Rep points can then only be scored by clicking on the scales and which are much harder to toss all round as you have to spread some rep to others before giving it to the same person again. Furthermore, one might not necessarily choose to give the max rep pts (indicated in rep power) to others if there are say 3 boxes to check eg 3 pts, 5 pts, max reps. Too much hard work Bryan?
