It's more down to the casino. Thunderstruck is normally limited to $45 per spin, but I have seen it as low as $11.25, and as high as $90.
Lasseters allow a $400 bet on their new 9 line slots, which is well over $30 per line.
The record though, goes to Grand Prive, I was able to select a coin of £25 on 50-line Jacks or Better, which comes in at £6250 per deal
Given that they once offered me 25% up to £25,000, it seems they cater for the biggest whales found online, as well as us lesser mid-rollers. I wondered how on earth you could actually deposit £100,000 in one go! I could fit that much in Neteller, but single transactions seem limited to around £2500 to £8000 depending on the casino concerned. (The £8000 was a WITHDRAWAL, I didn't find this out by making such a deposit

)
Some casinos also offer VIPs £4000 a hand blackjack, and with doubles and splits this could even top that £6250.
I suspect, though, that such high limit players would prefer the atmosphere (and freebies) of a big Vegas or Atlantic City casino, unless they were billionaire recluses, or high fliers with more money than brains.
