that's cool that you like all games in small doses or when a certain game fanices you. myself, i like backgammon a lot (i wasted t_b and always finish about even with swede when we play). backgammon is a very old game, and i'm currently reading a huge book on gambling, and how those that couldn't compete in athletics often resorted to simulating races (as backgammon is) and other contests using lots and dice, depending on chance/fate/fortune instead of physical prowess. backgammon and chess (and probably mahjongg although i'm not too familiar with it) have elements of skill where one can prevail with greater competency in the game.

side note: i love phil laak. he's half irish which makes him quite funny and unusually lucky, and he's just great to watch and hear about. i like his comments on the show "beyond the felt", he's just a great personality. and hansen i like too, for his quirkiness and attitude. both are former backgammon pros. hansen reminds me of a monkey, especially because he chows on bananas while playing poker, and his shaved head making his ears look huge. and cuz he's always acting wild and crazy.

back to gambling, i feel like i have a better chance to win at bj and vp, slots just seem too random and mindless (and house edgy) to me. poker and sports betting can give you more of a knowledge or skill advantage, but i don't have the discipline to play smartly at either. quite interesting, the phenomenon of betting at games ruled predominantly by chance. fascinating stuff. that's why i made this poll, and i hope people will ring in with their reasons for playing what and how they do. i'm anxious to see what develops.
