JEEZ..I thought gambling was already illegal in Texas. Isn't there only one licensed casino in the state?
I always hear the stories of the police constantly raiding the poker games. Still some of the finest card players throughout history have come out of the state of Texas.
It's a lot harder to get a 'right' back, than to give it up originally.

If they did, prosecutors would only file/try cases that they could legimately win. I am speaking mostly in regard to City and County. The Cities and Counties make lots of money charging people with Misdemeanor crimes and in Texas there are no public defenders, you have to pay for an attorney even if you can't afford one when it is a Misdemeanor charge. Most of the cases never go to trial, they are mostly plea bargained. The County collects the fine, the lawyer gets money and you get screwed.

I have read elsewhere that the US average for lawyers fees is $4300+-.

YUP...I'm from Ariz., and Texas law scares the shi* out of me, when I pass thru the state. (how many people has texas given the death penalty too?)
