UUHH...this was okay, those were '
offshore' prisons.
...and they were 'enemy combatants,' muslim, and terrorists...THIS IS A WAR, MAN...and to think, those damn citizens expected; legal cousel, a phone call, and a trial.
When the American public did not get outraged at this and cry "BS - FOUL"... 'WE' never will, 'till it is much to late.
When the Supreme Court, and Congress, "looked the other way" on this, we finally turned the corner as a country, onto a very bad street, in a very bad part of town.

True ironic 'Justice', would be Mr. Gonzales, facing a 'war crimes' trial, under the Geneva Convention.
And the the present 'Don' of the Bush Crime Family, facing RICO, as well as a 'war crimes' trial.
