You are correct. They have simply commented out the links to other similar stories.

And by looking at the source code, all those links are still there but have been surrounded by HTML comment tags.

I am sort of surprised that all these pages are still available, however, in a way I am not. They've already been rogued and their image is tarnished, so what motivation do they have now for cleaning up their act? The damage has been done.
